Martha In The Flowers
Okay, so last time I wrote about how we were still a little bored in Texas. This time...I’m going to lay down a (gasp) manifesto.
Okay, maybe not a manifesto. Maybe more like a Plan Of Action. But...whatever you call it...here ’tis.
So, here’s the deal. Covid is easing down a bit. (But, remember, it is still not over, so, everybody, stay safe and get boosted). Martha is now recovering from her fall (like I say, she’s still not 100%, but she is definitely closing in on 98%). And, we’re still bored.
But we’re going to change that. That’s our new mission. We know there’s stuff out there for us to explore...in Texas and beyond...and we’re gonna stomp our Ennui like it was a bug. That’s the plan.
Some years ago, friends of our son told him that he was “the most aggressive newcomer,” they’d ever seen, because whenever he moved to a new community, he plunged into it with great energy, enormous curiosity, and a cheerful willingness to accept the culture as it was, without judgment.
Well, from here on in, we’re going to imitate our son. Martha and I are going to be “aggressive newcomers.” We are going to become explorers, and have a few adventures along the way.
Some will be enjoyable. Others are going to be real clunkers. Either way, we’ll share them with you.
So, get ready, everyone.
Oh, and next time? The story of our first trip out ...at night...to a musical event...in ages.
And how we shoulda brought climbing ropes, pitons, oxygen, and an ice pack ...
To Beethoven.
More to come.

PS - Something a little different today. The picture above actually has something to do with the story. We were able to get out to a local nursery last week and Martha picked up some new plants for her gardening efforts. Another step toward Things To Do!
Also, I won’t be posting here for a few days. As part of our new mission (see above), we are driving up to Fort Worth, a town we rather like. I will bring back reports and pictures and the odd unsubstantiated rumor.
So, stay tuned.

Care to help out?
I provide these blog postings for free. That’s fine and I’m happy to do so. But, long ago and far away, I was told that if you give away your material, that means you don’t really think it has any value.
So, to get beyond that, I’ve decided to make it possible for you to leave me a “tip” for my posts.
If you like what I write or the videos I produce, and feel you could make a small contribution to support my efforts, please go here:
That will take you to a Gumroad page where you’ll have the option of leaving me a few pence by way of encouragement.
Again, I don’t mind if you don’t. I just want to provide you with the option so that I won’t feel quite so much like I’m just tossing my works into the wind.
Either way, thanks hugely for dropping by the blog :-)
