Of CFOs, Trumps, and Ms. Jennifer’s Smiles

So I don’t know how I missed this, but apparently there has been a bit of a flack for the last few days (I write this on April 11, 2021) about Allen Weisselberg, Donald Trump’s CFO, and his son, Barry Weisselberg. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr. is, as you know, investigating the Former Guy, and he is pushing Weisselberg père in the process.

Well, it turns out that Barry Weisselberg was getting a very large salary and all sorts of perks from Mr. Trump’s company, and the question is why. To find out, Mr. Vance’s office recently subpoenaed documents in the possession of Barry’s former wife, Jennifer Weisselberg. She surrendered them to Vance’s people a few days ago.

Now, what interests me about this is that the Washington Post recently put a video (see link below) on its website of Jennifer Weisselberg passing over the aforesaid documents, plus a shiny Apple laptop, to the DA’s agents. In the video, she greets Mr. Vance’s people warmly, touching one gently on the arm, and chatting with them as they load boxes of documents into their vehicle. She taps on the laptop as she passes it over to them, and seems to indicate that it is something special, and meant just for them.

In short, she is clearly just tickled pink to be passing along what is fairly certain to be pretty incriminating material.

I have no way of knowing if these boxes of documents will hurt Weisselberg, or his son, or their Lord and God-Emperor, The Former Guy. But I am guessing it sure won’t help them.

And judging from Ms. Jennifer Weisselberg’s happy smile…there is a moral here.

To wit, that payback is a bitch.

And karma, though slow, is amazingly reliable.

Until next time…

Onward and upward.

Based on his popular blog entries, this collection of travel essays explores Wimberley’s art, history, music, and mystery—with the dry wit of a seasoned traveler and the wide-eyed wonder of a first-time visitor.

Whether he’s hunting for the perfect taco, pondering the existential meaning of oversized footwear, or just trying to find parking on market day, Tucker brings Wimberley to life with style, warmth, and just a hint of mischief.

Come for the scenery. Stay for the stories. Bring your boots.
