Enormous Changes At The Last Minute

Going A Different Direction

Hey, Everybody,

Change in plans, folks! Sorry about that, but it makes sense.

Anyway, you know that for the last couple of Xcargo columns, I’ve talked about how I had done a series of Facebook posts about Martha’s recovery from her fall last January. I then said that I was going to gather them up and repost them here in a long list.

Well, honestly, I’ve rethought that. I’ve decided that instead of drawing them out for weeks and weeks, particularly when you already know the end of the story (she gets better. Cheer!), I’ll just collect them, put them into a short book, and make that available on the web.

Seems quicker, more direct, and, in a funny sort of way, more honest. I won’t be asking you to pretend that you’re watching her heal in a real time.

So, stay tuned. I’ll let you know when and where you can get the book (booklet?) very soon. It shouldn’t take me long to prepare.

In the meantime…well, I’m not quite sure what I’m going to post here. I may be doing a sort of a diary/blog recounting Martha’s and my efforts to find fun stuff to do in Texas. Which…surprise, surprise…can be a little harder than you might think.

Until next time…

Onward and upward.

Walking To Wimberley

Welcome to Wimberley, Texas—where the cypress trees lean over lazy rivers, the cowboy boots are ten feet tall (and painted like rainbows), and the coffee shops echo with guitars and gossip.

In Walking to Wimberley, Michael Jay Tucker invites you to join him on a meandering, thoughtful, and often hilarious journey through one of Texas’s most charming Hill Country towns. Based on his popular blog entries, this collection of travel essays explores Wimberley’s art, history, music, and mystery—with the dry wit of a seasoned traveler and the wide-eyed wonder of a first-time visitor.

Whether he’s hunting for the perfect taco, pondering the existential meaning of oversized footwear, or just trying to find parking on market day, Tucker brings Wimberley to life with style, warmth, and just a hint of mischief.

Come for the scenery. Stay for the stories. Bring your boots.
